There are three different elements to the RA Selection process: the application and recommendation forms, the group interview, and the individual interview. Each phase is intended to give candidates the opportunity to express their interests, experiences, and qualifications for the position. We know that each of us may be more comfortable in different kinds of settings and we need all kinds of people to be RAs. Whether you are more comfortable using written word, expressing yourself in a group setting , or expressing yourself in a one-on-one setting, the whole selection process is designed to set you up to reveal to us why you want to be an RA.
RA Information Sessions
Information sessions are a time for you to sit down and talk with current RAs and/or Campus Life and Leadership staff about the RA role. If you have questions about what it is like to balance the RA role with other roles you currently play as a student, what skills and experiences you may gain as an RA, what the expectations of an RA are, etc. this is a great time to ask! Information sessions will be held:
Thursday, November 7, 2013 3pm in the Foery Hall Lobby
Thursday, November 7, 2013 8pm in the Dablon Hall Lobby
Monday, November 11, 2013 8pm in the Harrison Hall Penthouse
On your application, you are asked to give your preference for a Group Interview session (also known as, "Group Process Interviews"). You will be required to participate in a series of group activities during your group interview that will explore your motivation to be an RA and your leadership skills as an RA candidate. You will be informed via email what Group Interview time and date you are assigned to participate in. The possible dates are Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 9am-12pm or Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 6-9pm
The individual interview will give you time in a one-on-one or two-on-one setting to discuss your experiences and your interest in being an RA. You will be interviewed by one or two Campus Life staff members (e.g. Area Director). Sign up for an interview slot by visiting the Area Director’s office of Dablon Hall located on the first floor. There will be a week of interviews November 18-22, 2013 as well as January 27-31, 2014.
