Office for Academic and Career Advising

Staying true to our Jesuit mission, this office approaches advising and mentoring through the lens of educating the whole person and inspiring students to develop themselves as men and women for others. Here, a team of professionals guides students as they discern their futures, considering their academics as well as their values, abilities, career goals, and leadership potential. Within the Division of Student Development, this team supports the academic and co-curricular needs of students at distinct developmental stages, focusing on:

  • Academic and career advising and development for students in all four years
  • Support to faculty in their integral roles as upper division advisors and mentors
  • A comprehensive Orientation program tailored to new first-year students, which begins at Summer Welcome and culminates in an extended four-day Fall Arrival
  • A distinctive Orientation geared to the needs of new transfer and less traditional students
  • Specialed advising for students who are exploring majors
  • Well-developed first-year academic advising in the major with meetings at critical milestones in the first year
  • An Academic Support Center that offers free tutoring and writing guidance during hours that match student needs
  • Residential learning communities for first-year students and sophomores who 'live, learn and lead' together through shared course work and interests
  • Service learning opportunities that help to develop a life-long interest in civic engagement
  • A vibrant, growing initiative that matches students with challenging interships to give them a competitive edge in the marketplace
  • Study abroad opportunities for students with varying interests and time commitments, including semester and year-long educational experiences and a growing number of attractive short-term immersion programs
  • Specialized advising for international students while at Le Moyne
  • A campus-wide early intervention system (EASE) for students who are academically at risk
  • Opportunities for students with the highest academic potential to compete for prestigious national and international fellowships and scholarships in concert with faculty mentors.

Our Mission

We seek to help Le Moyne students succeed by providing them with comprehensive programs, services and support that will enable them to create meaningful connections and relationships within and outside the classroom that enhance their intellectual, social and personal development.
