Le Moyne College Jazzuits Perform at Jazz Central
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … On Sunday, Oct. 23, at 4 p.m. Jocelyn Rauch will join the Le Moyne College Jazzuits in a performance of Broadway jazz standards at Jazz Central, 441 East Washington Street, Syracuse.
The Jazzuits, Le Moyne College’s vocal jazz ensemble, is under the direction of Carol Jacobe, professor of vocal studies, at Le Moyne College. The ensemble, which consists of 20 vocalists and a complete rhythm section of piano, bass, and drums, performs all styles of jazz. On this concert, the Jazzuits will feature songs that were introduced in musicals and later became part of standard jazz repertoire. The program will feature such tunes as “Oh Lady Be Good,” “It Might As Well Be Spring,” “Blue Skies” and “Old Devil Moon,” among others.
Rauch will be performing some of her favorite Broadway tunes including “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “I Got Rhythm,” and “I’ve Got A Crush On You.” Jazzuits member Jim Gilroy will join Rauch on the duet “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off.”
Vocalist and conductor Jocelyn Rauch received her bachelor’s degree from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester and is currently completing a master's degree in education at Le Moyne College. She has performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and Syracuse Opera. At Le Moyne, Rauch is a private voice instructor as well as director of the Le Moyne College Singers and Chamber Singers.
