Le Moyne College Names Dr. Dennis DePerro Inaugural Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College has named Dr. Dennis DePerro as the inaugural dean of graduate and professional studies. In his new role, DePerro will lead a newly created school at Le Moyne – the School of Graduate and Professional Studies – and will oversee graduate and undergraduate programs in education, nursing and physician assistant studies, as well as the Center for Continuing Education.

“I am excited about the opportunity to lead the new school, and look forward to strengthening existing programs and identifying new ones to meet the needs of the marketplace,” said DePerro. “Le Moyne is perfectly positioned to build on its recent success and develop programs that are in line with our Catholic, Jesuit heritage and mission.”

“As dean, his significant connections in the community through various professional and volunteer activities will help the College in many ways, including identifying potential new programs and course offerings, student recruitment, and strategic partnerships with organizations throughout the region,” said Dr. Linda LeMura, provost at Le Moyne. “Dennis’ work in enrollment management has served the College well for nearly 18 years. We are a larger and stronger college because of his success.”

Among the skills DePerro brings to the position are expertise in admission strategies, program development and marketing. DePerro has been with Le Moyne since 1995, working first as dean of enrollment management before being appointed vice president in 2001. During his time at Le Moyne, the size of the undergraduate student population increased from 1,680 to more than 2,300 this past fall. He has also taught as an adjunct professor in Le Moyne’s MBA, education and educational leadership programs

Before coming to Le Moyne, DePerro served as dean of admission and financial aid at Marietta College. DePerro holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Canisius College and doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in higher education management.
