Benefit Concert for Le Moyne Music Partnership with Cathedral Academy at Pompei

Wednesday, April 30 at 7p.m.
Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash Street, Syracuse

Le Moyne College and Cathedral Academy at Pompei (CAP) have initiated a multi-faceted partnership surrounding the CAP Symphonic Music Program, an after-school program created in the fall of 2012. The Symphonic Music Program seeks to use classical orchestral and world music to strengthen urban education by helping children develop their spiritual and human potential to build better lives and healthy communities.

To raise funds to benefit the partnership, a benefit concert will be held at CAP on Wednesday, April 30, with proceeds going directly to CAP’s Symphonic Music Program. The concert will feature the Le Moyne College Chamber Orchestra playing "Orchestral Broadway," a celebration of Broadway music including selections from West Side Story, Oklahoma!, Les Miserables, and many more. Tickets are $10 at the door for adults; children are free.

The partnership is enabled in part by a Community Arts Grant administered by CNY Arts. Two Le Moyne students, sophomore Vivian Phan and freshman Nicole McMahon, applied and were hired as interns in the Symphonic Music Program. Both women also play flute in the College’s Chamber Orchestra.
