New MLB Commissioner Manfred Attended Le Moyne
posted on: 8/15/2014
Rob Manfred, who was elected on Aug. 14 as the 10th commissioner in the history of Major League Baseball, has strong ties to Le Moyne. A native of Rome, N.Y., Manfred attended Le Moyne from 1976 to 1978 (he was a member of the varsity tennis team) before transferring to Cornell. His wife Colleen is a 1980 graduate of the College and he received an honorary degree at the 2010 commencement ceremony.
Coverage of the election of Manfred was widespread, with his Le Moyne connection mentioned in several stories, including the Daily News, a story on MLB.com that appears on web sites of major leagues teams, Syracuse.com, the Utica Observer-Dispatch, Time Warner Cable News and CNYCentral.
