Le Moyne College Hosts Talk on Stanley Cavell
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Dr. David LaRocca will present the first lecture in a series of events in 2009-10 focusing on the work of Stanley Cavell, Walter M. Cabot Professor of Aesthetics and the General Theory of Value, Emeritus, at Harvard University, on Thurs., Nov. 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the Reilley Room, located in Reilly Hall. His talk is titled “Not Following Emerson.”
LaRocca is coordinating producer and consulting editor of The Intellectual Portrait Series documentary film project for Liberty Fund, Inc., for whom he also directs, leads discussions and participates in sponsored educational colloquia. He earned his doctorate in philosophy from Vanderbilt University and later earned a master’s degree in philosophy and religion from Harvard. He is the author of “On Emerson” (Wadsworth Philosophers Series) and editor (as David Justin Hodge) of Stanley Cavell’s “Emerson’s Transcendental Etudes” (Stanford).
