Le Moyne College Physician Assistant Studies Director Named PA Educator of the Year
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … The Regional Physician Assistants of Central New York (RPACNY) honored Mary Springston, M.S.Ed., RPA-C, with the 2010 PA Educator of the Year award in June. Springston serves as program director of the Le Moyne College Department of Physician Assistant Studies. In addition, Springston was recently named PA Educator of the Year by the New York State Society of Physician Assistants (NYSSPA). She will be honored at the group’s Gala Dinner on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 during the NYSSPA fall conference in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Springston holds a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from the State University College at Oneonta, a bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies from Harlem Hospital City University of New York and a master’s degree in education from Le Moyne College.
Prior to becoming a physician assistant, Springston worked as a laboratory technician and has had significant training in infectious diseases. She has provided medical care and compassion to those affected by HIV and AIDS in upstate New York, as well as in the New York City metropolitan area.
Springston is nationally certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Physician Assistants Education Association, the New York State Society of Physician Assistants and the Regional Physician Assistants of Central New York.
