Le Moyne College Jazzuits Host Program of Classic Rock with Guest Artist Ronnie Leigh
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … On Sunday, Feb. 27, Central New York’s legendary jazz singer, Ronnie Leigh, will join forces with the Le Moyne College Vocal Jazz Ensemble, the Jazzuits, under the direction of Carol Jacobe. The concert, which will feature music of the ’60s and ’70s, will take place on the Le Moyne campus in the James Commons Room, Campus Center, at 4 p.m. posted on: 2/18/2011
Ronnie Leigh, founder and artistic director of “Jazz In The City,” has been impressing audiences for years from Syracuse to Seattle, and from New York City to Istanbul, giving leadership and a distinctive flare to the bands with which he has performed. He has shared the stage with The Drifters, Pat Metheny, The Yellowjackets, David Benoit, Special EFX, Spyro Gyra, David Sanborn, Tom Scott, Etta Jones and Jon Hendricks, as well as the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. Though primarily a jazz interpreter, Leigh has a variety of musical interests; he recently released a debut album on Eiffel Records with his own band, Prime Time Funk.
Concert repertoire will include group numbers with Ronnie Leigh featuring music of Chicago, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Creedence Clearwater Revival and the Doobie Brothers. Members of the Jazzuits will also be featured as soloist and include music of Queen, Billy Joel, Carole King, John Denver, The Beatles, and Otis Redding, among others.
The group will be accompanied by a full rhythm section including Jerry Exline on piano, Dan Skidmore on guitar, Kate Goloski on bass and Tony O’Brien on drums.
The concert will be performed in a cabaret style along with general admission seating. Tickets for table seating will be $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students.
