Le Moyne College Hosts Reading by Spanish Poet

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College will host a reading by Spanish poet Ana Merino on Thursday, March 31, at 6 p.m. in the Drescher Community Room, located in the Panasci Family Chapel.

Merino is the author of seven books of poetry, including “Preparativos para un viaje,” for which she was awarded the Adonais Prize for Poetry, “Juegos de niños,” which won the Fray Luis de Leon award for poetry, and “Curació,” for which she won the Jaime Gil de Biedma Prize. In addition, Merino has published a scholarly book on comics titled “El Comic Hispánico” (Cátedra, 2003), a critical monograph on Chris Ware (Sinsentido 2005), and a youth novel, titled “El hombre de los dos corazones” (Anaya, 2009).

Merino is an associate professor of Spanish creative writing at the University of Iowa. She previously taught Spanish at Dartmouth.

The reading is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Spanish Club.
