Like many other institutions, organizations and business, Le Moyne College has been busy planning for the possibility that it will be impacted by the H1N1 flu virus during the upcoming academic year. Since this health issue first made headlines in early 2009, Le Moyne has worked to create a comprehensive plan that will be enacted if circumstances warrant.
Over the summer months, Le Moyne's Pandemic Planning Committee has met internally, and with members of the Onondaga County Health Department, to make sure we are as prepared as we can be in the event the H1N1 situation worsens. As students return to campus, we have focused our efforts on communicating preventative measures that everyone can take to lessen the spread of germs.
While we take our guidance from state and county officials, given the uncertainty surrounding this issue Le Moyne is prepared for a number of different scenarios that could play out over the coming months. We are ready to work collaboratively across campus, and with the outside medical and health communities, to react in a decisive, proactive manner if necessary.
The Onondaga County Health Department has asked Le Moyne to provide data about the prevalence of H1N1 on our campus. This information will help the Health Department track overall numbers of cases throughout the county, and also help the College plan accordingly. To assist with this task, we have created this dedicated link for all students and employees to "self-report" possible flu-like symptoms. If you are out sick and feel you might have the flu, PLEASE SELF-REPORT THIS INFORMATION USING THIS LINK. This information will be kept confidential and be used strictly for data collection.
Below are several links that you may find helpful in learning about and understanding this potentially serious health issue, as well as several important on-campus phone numbers. Our hope is that the plans we have developed will never be needed, but are confident that we are ready to respond responsibly with the best interest of our students, faculty and employees in mind.

Chair of the Pandemic Planning Committee

Student Health Services
The mission of the Student Health Services at Le Moyne College is to foster and maintain the good health of the students, to treat illnesses and injuries, and to educate students in preventative measures for a lifetime of optimal health.
Any student in need of health care is encouraged to use the Student Health Services on a walk-in basis. We also take appointments. We suggest that students visit the health center not only when they are ill or injured, but also when they have questions or concerns about any health issue.
Information will be given in a confidential and nonjudgmental manner. The Student Health Office maintains student records in confidential manner. The staff does not routinely notify parents about students' medical care except in life-threatening situations.
