Daniel J. Kruger, Ph.D. (LMC '95), currently Assistant Research Scientist in the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan, was lead author of a paper recently published in the Journal of Social, Evolutionary, and Cultural Psychology. The title of the article is "Time Perspective as a Mechanism for Functional Developmental Adaptation" and was co-written with Thomas Reischl and Marc A. Zimmerman, also of the School of Public Health at U Mich. A copy of his paper can be downloaded in pdf format from the journal site at this link.

Dr. Dominic Carone (LMC '98) Named CNYPA "Psychologist of the Year"

Dominic A. Carone, Ph.D. (LMC '98) was recently named "Psychologist of the Year" for 2007 by the Central New York Psychological Association. Dr. Carone is coordinator of the Neuropsychological Assessment Program in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY where he holds the rank of Assistant Professor. According to the announcement by CNYPA, Dr. Carone was selected to receive this award for his work as chair of the association's Legislative Committee and his efforts in Albany to find a compromise to various professional issues arising from the new Scope of Practice Law and its effects upon the work of neuropsychologists across New York State.

A major in psychology at Le Moyne as an undergraduate, Dom received his doctoral degree at Nova Southeastern University where he specialized in Clinical Neuropsychology. A clinical internship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center was followed by a two-year postgraduate fellowship in the Department of Neurology at the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biological Sciences. Since 2001, Dom has also been the founding editor of MedFriendly.com, a well-received comprehensive guide to medical terminology. There are now more than 2,000 entries at the site.

Christina Nicolais (LMC '11): Upon graduating from Le Moyne, Christina spent a year volunteering on the Upstate Golisano Children's hospital hematology oncology unit as a Child Life Volunteer. She is now attending Virginia Commonwealth University as a full time student in the Counseling Psychology Ph.D. Program. Her research focus at the university is in Child Health Psychology, especially the psychology of childhood cancer survivorship. She is currently working on her Master's thesis which addresses how parent physical health can affect the risk of injury in children with behavior problems. In addition to her studies, she also has a graduate assistantship as an academic advisor to the undergraduate Pyschology majors at VCU.
