    Educational Leadership Certificates (CAS)

The Educational Leadership programs focus on preparing quality school leaders. It is the goal of the Le Moyne program to prepare educational leaders who not only have the skills and competencies necessary for demanding professional positions, but have caring and compassions to ensure that all children receive an excellent education. Le Moyne College offers three certifications: School Building Leadership (SBL), School District Leadership (SDL) and School District Business Leadership (SDBL).

The Department of Education in the School of Graduate and Professional Studies also offers a joint MBA/School District Business Leadership program with the Madden School of Business, which leads to New York State certification. Students take a total of 33 credits for the MBA program and 30 credits for the CAS in School District Business Leadership. This program is offered onsite in Watertown, NY, with executive capstone seminars at Le Moyne College. A traditional MBA for those interested in a career change to business or professional development in their current business or management setting will also be offered. Information about the MBA requirements can be found here.

    Certificate in Health Information Systems

Quality 21st century health care requires secure and effective information technology systems to meet two of its most significant challenges: improving the level of care and controlling costs. Developing, managing and using information technology that is effective in complex clinical, organizational and economic settings is an enormous undertaking. Le Moyne College’s Health Information Systems Certificate Program is designed to prepare students to address these issues throughout their careers.

Health information systems is a discipline at the intersection of information science, computer science and health care that focuses on the systems, technology, policies, procedures and human capital required to optimize the acquisition, storage, retrieval and use of information in health and biomedicine. Technology in health information systems not only includes computers, but also clinical guidelines, formal medical terminology, and information and communication systems in nursing, clinical care, dentistry, pharmacy, public health, occupational therapy and biomedical research.

The Certificate in Health Information Systems is designed for working professionals.

Students in the health information systems program will complete fieldwork at one of our partner institutions: St. Joseph’s Hospital, Upstate Medical University, Crouse Hospital or Loretto, the largest provider of eldercare services in upstate New York. The chief information officers and information technology directors at these institutions have agreed to identify projects for Le Moyne students to complete. Alternatively, students can propose their own projects for patient-centered technology applications. Students will receive hands-on experience with health information systems in our partner institutions and, consistent with our Jesuit heritage, be required to prepare and present a reflective piece on their experiential learning activities. Guest speakers from local, regional and international organizations will supplement classroom learning and provide an important connection to the professional world for the health information systems students.
