    Tourism, Sustainability and Responsible Development: Lessons from Costa Rica

    The tropical ecology of Costa Rica features extraordinary biodiversity and diverse ecosystems. Costa Rica is globally recognized to be a leader in conservation and use of renewable resources, especially energy production with low carbon footprints.

    In this talk, Ronald Calvo, a naturalist and adventure tour guide in Costa Rica, will address how the nation’s identity as a peaceful republic with no standing army has helped turn Costa Rica into a popular tourist destinations, especially for those from North America and Europe.
