Translation as Engagement Scholarship
Lamia Benyoussef, Ph.D., will discuss her dual role as translator and transcreator
of Olfa Youssef’s original reading of the Qur’an from Arabic into English, and the challenges she encountered while trying to introduce this Tunisian scholar’s ground-breaking work, Hayratu Muslimah (Perplexity of a Muslim Woman: Over Inheritance Marriage and" Homosexuality), into the Anglophone world.
The full title of her talk is "Translation as Engagement Scholarship: The Case of Olfa Youssef's The Perplexity of a Muslim Woman."
