The 2018 Madden Lecture will be given by Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh. Beginning his term as the 54th mayor of Syracuse on Jan. 1, 2018, Walsh is the first independent, unaffiliated Syracuse mayor in over 100 years.

Creating strong bonds between business, government and education yields meaningful and measurable results for municipalities. True leadership is built on collaboration. Transformational leadership exists with a shared vision between businesses, universities and government, and all stakeholders work together to drive true, positive change.

Walsh has experience working with business leaders to create jobs and improving the quality of life in city neighborhoods. He has been successful by holding people accountable, with a vision for collaborative leadership – across the city, across the aisle and across the conference room table.
