It is hard to describe what I saw today. It was hard for everyone to describe what they saw today in our reflection this evening without feeling or showing some sort of emotion from our home visits earlier this morning. We took a bus downtown to visit four families and their homes, some which the family built by themselves, and their pride was very present in what they were able to accomplish. This in my opinion, showed an appreciation for what hard work can accomplish. Space was limited within all of these homes but, each family found a way to make it work. I've never seen anything like what I saw today but the positive attitudes that were seen in the people who lived in these homes gave me a humbled feeling. This entire trip has been filled or more likely, overfilled with eye-opening experiences. Although the conditions were rough, every family was happy to know that we weren't there to intrude on their property, but to get a better understanding of what they have to go through on a day-to-day basis. I am so grateful to know that there are people out there who appreciate a kind gesture and a hug.
Here are some pictures from an almost indescribable experience the 12 of us got to take in this morning.
Our afternoon was spent shadowing volunteers, and watching Luigi break into our room.
