Professor Brenda J. Kirby received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology with an emphasis in Quantitative Methods from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  She teaches Social Psychology, Psychology and the Law, Research Methods, and a Senior Seminar on the Psychology of Stereotypes, Prejudice, and Discrimination. She also is an active mentor for students doing independent research, including Departmental Honors Research. Professor Kirby’s research students regularly present at professional meetings and go on to do graduate work in Psychology.  Her own research is in two areas, looking at issues of prejudice and discrimination, especially related to sexual orientation, social class, and race, and looking at issues of justice system practices and jury decision-making.
