Professor Shawn L. Ward earned a Master of Education degree in educational psychology at Fordham University and received his doctorate in developmental psychology from Temple University. He teaches Introductory Psychology, Research Methods, Child and Adolescent Psychology, Aging and Adulthood, and Human Sexuality. Professor Ward’s research interests include various aspects of adolescent decision-making behaviors. His current projects include an investigation into how young adults understand cheating behavior as compared to the notion of zero tolerance and an examination of the transformational effects of global experiences particular to the ego identity development. In 2000, Professor Ward was awarded the Rev. Msgr. A. Robert Casey Teacher of the Year by his teaching colleagues, in 2001, he received the Rev. Robert E. O’Brien Service Award and, in spring 2015, he was named the Beatrice Robinson, Ph.D., Advisor of the Year. In addition to his teaching and research, Professor Ward serves the College as the Faculty Athletic Representative, an NCAA position bridging academics and athletics on the Heights.
