Currently works as the Communications Coordinator at the Skaneateles Festival.
What is your favorite aspect of your job and/or internship?
"I love that I am given the opportunity to be first contact with the press for the Festival events. It is my job to make sure the word gets out and that the public is informed and involved in our events. Hearing that someone read about us in an article in the local paper, or hearing that the paper is glad to have a good, unique view of the festival makes me feel like I am making a positive influence on the growth of the Festival. I also love how close-knit the Festival community is. Everyone seems to know everyone and everyone seems to have a deep and personal connection to the Festival."
What are you learning in the Graduate Program that you have applied in your job and/or internship?
"We are currently learning about fundraising and "making the ask" for potential donors in one of our classes. Though I most likely will not be asking "the question" of the Festival's patrons, it is interesting to learn about the steps that the executive directors (present and past) have taken to get the Festival to the success and closeness it has in its community. In addition to this insight, it has been fun listening to what works for other organizations and comparing the "ideal scenarios" to the organization I am currently involved in."
