    Student Scholars Day Showcases Research and Academic Excellence

    Le Moyne's annual Student Scholars Day was a campus-wide celebration of research, entrepreneurial, and creative accomplishments of students from a variety of academic disciplines at the College. Students presented and discussed their work at a day-long conference devoted to faculty-mentored, independent projects. Integral Honors students also presented their thesis research, which is the capstone of the Integral Honors experience at Le Moyne.

    The day-long event featured individuals student sessions in the morning and early afternoon, with a poster session concluding the day later in the day. More than 50 students presented sessions on topics that ran the gamut, from a wide array of disciplines including English, history, biology, political science, psychology, business analytics, marketing and economics.     The keynote address for the day was given by Alicia Zielenski ’15, who is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in psychology at Alfred University. Opening remarks were given by biology Associate Professor Patrick Yurco, Ph.D., the 2017-18 Undergraduate Mentor of the Year.

    Student Scholars Day is sponsored by the Student Research Committee, the Office of the Provost and Academic Vice President, and the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
