Alexander Street's Academic Video Online (VAST) search engine has been reported to the vendor as being unacceptably slow with searches frequently taking 30 seconds or more to execute. Some users may be seeing that their search will time out and display an error before executing. This is happening because the Library's proxy server, which allows Le Moyne students and faculty to access the collection from off-campus, times out before the search has completed.
This is not a solution to the problem, but if you are on-campus, use the unproxied version of the link to the collection:
This won't increase the search speed, but will increase the likelihood that searches will finish and your search results will be displayed. Note that playing back of videos from the collection is not impaired, just the search operation.
The problem has been reported to Alexander Street.
