“Why does Le Moyne
still need my contribution?”

In light of the $50 million gift from the estate of Robert and Catherine McDevitt that Le Moyne received in 2008, why are we still asking our alumni, parents and friends to support the Le Moyne College Fund?

• The McDevitt endowment, though it will benefit the College as a whole in the future, is largely restricted to the academic areas of computer science, information processing, physics and religious philosophy, as the McDevitts wished.  Your annual contribution to the Le Moyne College Fund serves our students immediate needs, most crucially providing financial aid and resources for instruction.

• Funds from the estate are coming to the College in strategic increments so to maximize their effectiveness, and not in one lump sum.  Providing for the daily needs of the College and our students continues to be the main priority of the Le Moyne College Fund – and we rely on the many gifts, large and small, from our donors to meet those needs.

• When we say every gift counts, we mean it.  Whether your gift is $10 or $1,000 – there are few other institutions where it will have such an immediate and direct impact.  And just as important, your contribution, regardless of size, raises our participation percentage – which keeps Le Moyne in the top five among Jesuit schools nationally!

What Robert and Catherine McDevitt did for Le Moyne is tremendous and will shape the Heights for years to come – and their example to us all of selfless generosity will last forever.
