We believe that our success rests on our ability to identify and implement technological solutions that anticipate client needs while
providing employees with the tools that make JPMorgan Chase a premier place to work. We are a recognized leader in information
technology aligned to the needs of specific business lines. While some IT professionals are business aligned, others work on
firm-wide initiatives. Regardless of where they work, the overall mission of our IT specialists is to turn our applications, systems
and infrastructure into a competitive advantage for the firm by coupling technological expertise
with an understanding of our different strategic business visions.
Program Overview
JPMorgan Chase is seeking highly motivated individuals for opportunities within our Technology Academic Internship Development
Program at Syracuse University's Technology Center. Interns will work full time during the summer and part time during the
academic year. This internship opportunity is a primary feeder for our analyst development programs
across all locations.
The overall mission of JPMorgan Chase's technology team is to establish technology as a competitive advantage for the firm
by coupling technological expertise with an understanding of our strategic vision. Information technology supports the spectrum
of staff functions that lie at the heart of virtually every aspect of our business. The goal of the Technology Summer & Academic
Internship Development Program is to introduce and prepare participants for the information technology organization at JPMorgan
Chase. You will be exposed to different technology areas through varied training and presentations. Technology Summer
Analysts & Academic Interns join technology teams who are responsible for designing, developing and supporting the applications
or projects that give our businesses their competitive edge.
These are the different opportunities that are available within the Technology Summer & Academic Internship Development Program:

design and development of solutions, (generally Object Oriented design), but will also shape development best practice,
possibly moving towards Continuous Integration Testing (CIT). In this role you could be liaising with traders and marketers
to solve problems, deliver new business projects or enhance existing applications. You are likely to learn the realities of
real-time coding in an electronic trading environment; you may even be required to develop an understanding of the intricacies of

one of the many other applications across our businesses. Whatever you are working on you will be continually managing
and monitoring systems, responding to support calls, proactively seeking to improve quality and efficiency by carrying out
configuration changes and managing the production environment. You'll switch quickly between daily support procedures,
management reporting and the urgent resolution and escalation of complex issues. You may also be involved in quality
assurance and executing test scripts and documents defects; run maintenance procedures/analyze results and take
appropriate steps as a result. Good problems solving and communication skills are a prerequisite for working in a highly
pressurized and time critical environment.
Business Systems Analyst
Business Systems Analysts identify, assess and record near term business needs, analyzing requirements, recommending
business priorities and advising on options, risks and costs versus benefits. Often similarly aligned are Project Managers,
responsible for estimating, planning, tracking and reporting on project and implementation work. In these roles, you will
partner closely with other teams, identifying and articulating business needs, so that the development team can design a solution.
You may be involved in feasibility studies, design specifications, test analysis, and user training, right through to final implementation.
Sometimes your role might encompass all of these things at once!
Infrastructure Engineer
At JP Morgan Chase, Infrastructure Engineers are involved in every facet of the IT system lifecycle, from identifying the latest

| U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) |
|
Summer Research Institute (SRI)
Summer 2012 Hoboken, New Jersey
http://www.stevens.edu/csr/about/index.html
Background
In 2008, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) established a Center of Excellence for Maritime Security, Island and Extreme/Remote Environment Security (CSR) at Stevens Institute. DHS also created other Centers of Excellence for Border Security and Immigration; Explosives Detection, Mitigation and Response; Natural Disasters, Coast Infrastructure and Emergency Management; and Transportation Security.
The Centers of Excellence program is managed by the DHS Science and Technology Directorate's Office of University Programs. The purpose of these centers is to take advantage of the unsurpassed research capabilities and intellectual capital of U.S. colleges and universities to fill knowledge and technology gaps for the department. By Congressional authorization, each Center is responsible for conducting multidisciplinary research and developing education initiatives in areas important for homeland security. Homeland Security Department Names Academic Institutions to Lead New Centers of Excellence. DHS Feb. 26, 2008.
Center for Secure and Resilient Maritime Commerce (CSR) Summer Research Institute
The CSR held its second annual Summer Research Institute, June 6 to July 29, 2011, at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. The program was led by a team of CSR researchers and educators.
Twenty-one students representing eight universities were admitted into the eight-week intensive summer research program. Student representation included the following U.S. colleges and universities:
• Stevens Institute of Technology (8 students)
• University of Miami (3)
• University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez(3)
• Jackson State University (2)
• University of Hawaii (2)
• Rutgers University (1)
• Norfolk State University (1)
• SUNY Binghamton (1)
For a list of the 2011 SRI student participants, please click here. For a list of participating CSR researchers, please click here.
Collectively, the students represented a broad base of academic disciplines including Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maritime Systems, and Systems Engineering, to name a few. Eight of the student participants were Master's and/or PhD students and 13 were undergraduate students in their junior and/or senior year of study.
The students were organized into two research teams: The Sensor Technology Applications in Port Security (STAPS) Team led by Faculty Mentors Dr. Barry Bunin, Chief Architect, Maritime Security Laboratory and Dr. Alexander Sutin, Research Professor, Stevens Institute of Technology and The Consequence Assessment and Management (CAM) Team led by Faculty Mentors Dr. Julie Pullen, Director, Maritime Security Laboratory and Dr. Philip Orton, Research Associate, Stevens Institute of Technology.
Working closely with their faculty mentors the students were given the collective challenge of utilizing sensor technologies and plume modeling forecasts to assess the potential impacts of a radiological dispersion and oil spill in the New York Harbor.
During the summer research program, the SRI students engaged in a surprise crisis simulation. On July 11, 2011 the CAM and STAPS teams were provided with factitious intelligence that a vessel had detonated a bomb in the Hudson River, exploding itself and releasing oil and debris into the river. The factitious intelligence also mentioned that radiation sensors were indicating that radioactive contaminants were detected in the air.
With no additional information provided or directions, the two SRI research teams were asked to assist with the disaster by providing situational awareness utilizing the CSR?s remote sensing technologies and its simulation and modeling tools and capabilities. A summary of the student's experience in conducting the crisis simulation can be found via the following web link: Crisis Simulation paper.
Program Outcomes
The outcomes from this summer's program contributed to the Center's research and development of new tools and technologies to enhance our nation's maritime domain awareness.
Student achievements included the development of a new web interface called Magello and a new graphical user interface that tracks vessel traffic abnormalities.
Developed by members of the Consequence Assessment and Management Team, the Magello web interface pulls together multi-source data that can be overlaid and displayed collectively in one user-friendly interface. The data sources used include AIS, ocean currents, atmospheric plume models, ocean spill models and other remote sensing applications. The data inputs draw upon feeds by NOAA, GNOME, NYHOPS and COAMPS to name a few. This "one-stop shop" interface has the potential of providing first responders and decision-makers with modeling and simulation capabilities, and critical environmental and atmospheric information during emergency and crisis situations.
Students in the Sensor Technology Applications and Port Security Team utilized multiple sensors in a layered approach to enhancing maritime domain awareness. The team successfully developed a graphical user interface that can assist in the identification of vessel traffic abnormalities. This information system can potentially increase surveillance capabilities for maritime security practitioners and port security.
The student teams were each responsible for preparing a final research paper and presenting their research in a formal presentation to CSR faculty and invited guests from the Department of Homeland Security and the United States Coast Guard.
Copies of the student teams' final reports and presentations can be reviewed and download via the follow web links:
Final Reports:
Consequence Assessment and Management - Team Paper
Sensor Technology Applications in Port Security - Team Paper
Presentations:

Applications for openings in the Summer 2012 will be accepted between November 15 – December 31, 2011.
For additional information about the 2012 SRI, please contact Beth Austin DeFares, Director of Education, CSR at bdefares@stevens.edu or by phone at 201.216.5362.

| LeMoyne College-Syracuse University Global Enterprise Technology Immersion Experience Internships
|
Le Moyne College - Syracuse University Global Enterprise Technology (GET)
Immersion Experience Internships
Start Date: January, 2012
Le Moyne College and Syracuse University have developed a new partnership to offer students a unique Global Enterprise Technology (GET) Immersion Experience Internship Program http:globaltech.syr.edu/. This program enables students to understand the key technical, organizational and financial considerations of a successful IT project within a large global organization. In this interdisciplinary program, students learn how to communicate and collaborate with people of different backgrounds and areas of expertise, where they need to leverage the individual strengths and knowledge to ensure the best team results.
This enhanced co-op model that provides a ‘semester away’ experience, enables problem-based learning within an experiential learning environment where theory & practice are treated together in an integrated fashion (as opposed to alternating between internships and the classroom). The GET Immersion Experience program is open to students from any major - it provides breadth and specific technical courses for technical majors (ex. Computer Science/MIS, physics, chemistry) and provides depth and a domain expertise for students in other majors (ex. communications, psychology, history).
In the program, students:
* Work from January - August (as a paid, full-time employee) for a firm such as JP Morgan Chase, GE, Ernst & Young, Cisco or Fidelity Investments in Manhattan; Charlotte, NC; Columbus, OH; Schenectady, NY; and other locations. Students will work in global virtual teams of co-workers located around the globe using enterprise technology.
* Earn between 15-24 credits during this time period - Courses focus on Global Enterprise Technology, Communication and Project Management, and provide experiential learning where work & school challenges are integrated (ex. managers & professors provide guidance on student projects). Le Moyne tuition rates for the applicable spring and summer semester are anticipated for these courses. Courses are applicable to the student’s major and ‘count’ as either electives or major requirements.
* Have the option to travel with their intern cohort to a variety of global business locations around the world to experience and observe the principles and reality of global enterprise technology firms in practice.
Students return to Le Moyne in September following their Immersion Experience and are then highly competitive candidates for full-time employment with their sponsor firm, or with any of the other GET Immersion Experience partner firms.

| Le Moyne College - New Program in Government Systems
|
Government Systems Contract Administration– Fall 2011 A Partnership with Lockheed Martin, SRC, SRCTec, Sensis Corporation and Anaren Corporation. Le Moyne is proud to offer a new program in Government Systems contract administration for the first time in Fall 2011.
In the spring 2010, the CEO of SRCTec, Mary Ann Tyscka LMC ’80 MBA ‘83, endowed a program in Government Systems at Le Moyne to address the need to fill the government systems contracting pipeline with new talent. Government contract administrators administer the purchase, acquisition, and contracting documents that define the business relationship between a contractor and the government. In the local area, Lockheed Martin, Sensis Corporation, SRC, SRCTec, Anaren and a host of other defense contractors employ contract administrators, as do any hospitals, medical insurance firms, law firms and government agencies in local, national and international communities.
Because so many of the contract administrators who were hired in the 1970's in all organizations are retiring in record numbers, SRCTec asked Le Moyne to develop a certificate program of four courses that would introduce their workforce and Le Moyne students to the world of government contracting.
Course Schedule:
Fall 2011 Introduction to Government Systems Ron Ziomek, Director of Contracts, Lockheed Martin
Project Management Professor Martha Grabowski
Spring 2012 Introduction to Government Systems Accounting Professor Joan Myers
Fall 2012
Contracts Compliance Dave Sprague, Corporate Counsel, SRC
Le Moyne is excited to be offering this new sequence of courses in response to industry requests for new students in the work place. Please feel free to sign up for these courses; most require ACT 203/204 or MIS 201 (Project Management). Questions? Contact Professor Martha Grabowski grabowski@lemoyne.edu 315-445-4427. |

|
Le Moyne – Syracuse University 4+1 Program Fast Track Program in Information Management
B.S. Business Administration and Information Systems M.S., Information Management Start date: April 1, 2012 In March 2010, Le Moyne entered into a new partnership with Syracuse University (S.U.) that allows Le Moyne students with a major or dual major in information systems or computer science to complete a master’s degree program in information management at S.U. by taking graduate courses there during their senior year at Le Moyne.
Students complete the program with one or two semesters of additional course work beyond their Le Moyne undergraduate program. For example, they may take graduate courses at Syracuse University in the spring of their senior year, and complete the program in the summer and fall immediately following their graduation from Le Moyne. Le Moyne students enrolled in the 4+1 program participate in internships through Le Moyne and/or Syracuse University, and are supported with a graduate assistantship at Syracuse during their time at S.U.
The agreement also stipulates that Le Moyne students in the 4+1 program will be charged Le Moyne tuition for their S.U. courses, rather than S.U. tuition. For students who come in with transfer or AP credit, this could mean that they may be able to graduate on time with both the bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne and a master’s degree from S.U. and no change in status with respect to their financial aid.
In the first year of the program, 14 Le Moyne students applied to the program and 12 were accepted. Anecdotal information from the S.U. program director related that all students were doing extremely well, and that the top student in last year’s class was a Le Moyne graduate from the class of 2010.
For more information, please contact Dr. Martha Grabowski, Chair of the Business Administration Department at Le Moyne College by email at grabowsk@lemoyne.edu or 315-445-4427
