LE MOYNE COLLEGE ARCHIVES
Preserving the Past & Present for the Future

The President's Council on May 7, 1998 and the Academic Committee of the Board of Trustees on May 29th approved the Mission Statement of the Le Moyne College Archives & Special Collections.

Archives Mission Statement
The mission of the Le Moyne College Archives is to collect, arrange and preserve documents that are of historical value to the College and to provide the Le Moyne community including the administrators, faculty, alumni, students and interested members of the public with information relative to the College's history and development.

The Archives collects records which have continuing historical value. Records no longer needed in the offices for current administrative, financial or legal purposes contain valuable information about the history of Le Moyne people, programs, the campus and events. The Archives provides permanent preservation of these materials.

An official record of the College may include a handwritten or electronic document, a photograph, an audio/videotape, or an e-mail. The crucial test is that the document was created by a member of the college community, in the course of his or her work for the college. The Archives also collects personal papers of faculty, staff, students and others, which help to document personnel and activities of the College.

Since it is members of the College community are the ones who constantly create the record of the College's history, the process of preserving that history must begin with you!
