A few weeks ago everyone received housing lottery cards. Which color card you got depended on the amount of credits each person has at the end of the Fall semester. Most future sophomores received a blue card because they have a lower amount of credits than the aspiring juniors, who attain green cards. Luckily, one of my suitemates had 30 credits, which is enough to have junior status. Our group had eight blue cards and one green card. This means that we go before the groups that consist of all the soon-to-be sophomores, but we go after groups that have two or three juniors.

Halfway through the second semester with more school work than I know what to do with, I’m still happy with my college decision. The small school community of Le Moyne still has more benefits than hindrances. I believe the size of the school is a huge advantage. This semester my classes have gotten smaller, but that only means I am able to build a stronger relationship with my professors. Initially, I was very skeptical about being in an all -male dorm, but my entire floor has become very close this semester.

Super bowl weekend was a couple days of intense anticipation and extreme tension between rival fans. Fighting gestures and words were passed to opposing fans. Patriot fans were fairly confident with their dominant season, and not too worried about Eli Manning and the Giants. Giants fans had faith in their team, but were not completely sure of the outcome. All through Saturday the insults continued. When the Sunday sun punted the Saturday moon, all was quiet. This was the quiet before the storm.

This semester my classes are the same. It is just the second half each course that I took in the fall. My only class that is different is religion with Rev. Makuja. It is a very interesting class, as well as, a fairly easy class to get out of the way early in my academic career at Le Moyne. Although my classes are generally the same, I have brand new teachers with the exception of physics. Personally, I believe new teachers can enhance learning because of their very different teaching techniques.

People everywhere are excited for this time of year for many reasons. Children are anxiously waiting for Santa Claus to come; giving them all their desired presents. Parents are thrilled to see their wallets and purses empty… not so much. For college students at LeMoyne this time of year is when it gets harder to get out of bed to walk to class. Ultimately, this is the time of year when finals loom over the campus causing regretful thoughts such as, “I should have studied.” Luckily, after the finals the smoke clears and students are able to go home to their families.
