Pre-professional positions are essentially valuable part-time jobs. Many students and employers call them internships because they help students gain valuable experience and prepare for careers. They can last from one semester to two years or more! The types of positions that fall in this category are almost always business related. Below is a current list of positions that we have information on and for which we will be forwarding resumes.

Need student for Fall to work in the area of Employee Benefits (Specifically Health Insurance). Will learn aspect of employee benefit plan design, funding, risk and self funded plan alternatives. Work with large group benefit consultants, brokers and third party administrators all over Upstate NY. Requirements include advanced Excel kowledge and general microsoft computer knowledge. 15-25 hours a week. Start in September 2008 and continue through Spring 2009 semester. Student would schedule Center of Influence meeting with professors and career counselors for recruiter, attend career fairs, assist during college intern intervieew days, attend recruiting meetings and help prepare activity report, manage campus internship advertising, including newspapers, posters, flyers. Administer profiling tools and follow up, assist with intern training class. Must be a FT student at a four year insitituion and have strong interpersonal skills, be self motivated and well organized. Salary is $300 every two weeks. The City of Syracuse Office of the City Auditor is an independent office in city government. The City Auditor is charged with conducting audits in compliance with Government Auditing Professional Standards for the City of Syracuse, City School District, Syracuse Housing Authority and all components of the city government including water, airport, SIDA, SEDCO, etc. The City Auditor conducts numerous financial audits throughout the year in compliance with the Syracuse City Charter. This position is ideally suited for an accounting major seeking both governmental auditing experience and an opportunity to earn up to $5,000 stipend. Candidate should have the following skills: Good knowledge of accounting principals and procedures and the ability to apply such knowledge to auditing accounting records. Good knowledge of the principles and procedues governing auditing of financial records. Some knowledge of office methods and procedures and familiarity with the use of standard office equipment. Ability to prepare complete and accurate audit reports and ability to perform detailed work involving written or numeric data and to make arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately. The Air Traffic Systems Division encompasses all forms of tracking aircraft while in flight and on the surface of airports. Student will be responsible for supporting the program team to ensure the quality and timeliness of program objectives and deliverables. Focus will be learning about program management and providing administrative and support services for existing programs with customers located throughout the world. Responsibilities include submission of program-related documentation and deliverables to QA and CM, manage the review and posting of deliverables to ensure timely delivery to customers.
