Deacon, Karin Ruhlandt-Senge, "More than Steric Effects: Unlocking the Coordination Chemistry of Barium Pyrazolates," J. Org. Chem., 172-182, 2008 (1). The paper reports research conducted while Dr. O'Brien was a Ph.D. student in the Department of Chemistry at Syracuse University.
- Dr. Joseph Mullins' article, "Six Pillars of Organic Chemistry," Journal of Chemical Education 2008, 85, 83. The pillars are important organizing principles in the study of organic chemistry.
- New Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Anna O'Brien, has had an article published in 2007 in the Journal of Organic Chemistry: Anna Y. O'Brien, John P. McGann, and G. Richard Geier, III, "Dipyrromethane + Dipyrromethanedicarbinol Routes to an Electron Deficient meso-Substituted Phlorin with Enhanced Stability," J. Org. Chem., 72 (11), 4084-4092, 2007. The paper reports research conducted while Dr. O'Brien was a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Chemistry at Colgate University.
- Chemists at the 234th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Boston in August 2007.
- David Craig presented a research talk on "Decoherence and the uncertainty principle" at the 18th International Conference on General Relativity and Gravitation in Sydney, Australia in July. This work, aimed at achieving a deeper understanding of the relationship between classical and quantum physics, includes results obtained in collaboration with 2007 physics graduate Adam Lemke. The research was also presented earlier in the summer at the 10th Eastern Gravity Meeting at Cornell, where Lemke also gave a talk on his portion of the work.
- Dr. Craig has had an article published in the Journal of Physics A this year: David Craig, Fay Dowker, Joe Henson, Seth Major, David Rideout and Rafael D Sorkin, "A Bell inequality analog in quantum measure theory," J. Phys. A 40, 501-523
- Dr. Kyrkos has had three papers published so far in 2007
- Peter Hartmann, Zoltan Donko, Pradip M. Bakshi, Gabor J. Kalman, and Stamatios Kyrkos, "Molecular Dynamics Studies of Solid-Liquid Phase Transition in 2-D Yukawa Systems," IEEE Trans. Plasma Sci. 35, 332 (2007)
- Peter Hartmann, Zoltan Donko, Gabor J. Kalman, Stamatios Kyrkos, Marlene Rosenberg, and Pradip M. Bakshi, "Collective Modes in 2-D Yukawa Solids and Liquids," IEEE Trans. Plasma Sci. 35, 337 (2007)

- Chemists at the 233rd National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Chicago in March 2007.
- Dr. Giunta is a co-author of solutions manuals for the popular physical chemistry text by Peter Atkins and Julio de Paula. The manuals, Instructor's Solutions Manual for Physical Chemistry, Eighth Edition and Student Solutions Manual for Physical Chemistry, Eighth Edition, by Peter Atkins, Charles A. Trapp, Marshall P. Cady, and Giunta, were published in 2006 by Oxford University Press, distributed in North America by W. H. Freeman.
- Dr. Kyrkos had three papers published in 2006
- Stamatios Kyrkos, Gabor J Kalman and Kenneth I Golden, "Compressibilities in bilayers of charged particles," J. Phys. A 39, 4625 (2006)
- Marlene Rosenberg, Gabor J Kalman, Stamatios Kyrkos and Zoltan Donko, "Beam-plasma interaction in strongly coupled plasmas," J. Phys. A 39, 4613 (2006)

- Dr. Giunta had an article published and made a conference presentation on Thomas Midgley, Jr. in 2006. The article, "Thomas Midgley, Jr., and the Invention of Chlorofluorocarbon Refrigerants: It Ain't Necessarily So," was published in the Bulletin for the History of Chemistry 31, 66 (2006). The talk, titled "Thomas Midgley, Jr.: A life in chemical invention," was at the 232rd National Meeting of the American Chemical Society. The presentation, in September 2006 in San Franciso, came in a symposium of the Division of the Chemical Education on scientific biography.
- Dr. Giunta presented a talk and a poster entitled "World Year of Physics 2005: Lessons for chemistry educators?" in a symposium on science history in chemical education held by the Division of the History of Chemistry. The presentations included Le Moyne's 2005 Einstein celebration, organized primarily by Drs. Craig and Beaty.
