Reilly Hall 442FAQ's
- Why won't the projector turn on?
The projectors are sensitive. They take a few seconds to warm up and project. If you hit the power button and nothing seems to happen, then hit it again, you have turned it on and then back off again. To turn the projector on, hold the power button down until the amber light on the projector turns to flashing green. This means that the projector is warming up. When the projector is fully powered up and running, the light on the projector will turn solid green. Please remember to turn the projector off when finished. This is done by simply holding down the power button once more. The solid green light will begin flashing and then turn back to solid amber when powered off. If nothing seems to work, call Classroom Services at ext. 4380 and a technician will assist you in correcting the problem.
- Why do I have video but no audio (or visa versa)?
First, make sure that the yellow RCA video cable and the red and white or black RCA audio cables are securely hooked into the back of the DVD/VCR deck. If those are in place, next check to see if your teaching station is equipped with an amplifier. If you have one, make sure that it is turned on. Next, make sure that you have the correct input selected. Some teaching stations have an input that reads DVD/VCR, but some have VIDEO, COMPOSITE VIDEO, or AUX VIDEO, and you try playing a tape using the DVD/VCR input, then you will have video or audio but not both. If nothing seems to work, call Classroom Services at ext. 4380 and a technician will assist you in correcting the problem.
- I have a Monovision cart in my room and the computer CPU (or tower) is on. Why won't it be recognized as input?
The Monovision carts are equipped with a computer tower (CPU), wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. The Monovision acts as a monitor which is why there is no actual computer monitor on the cart. A normal desktop or laptop computer can "fall asleep" if not in use. The same goes for a Monovision. When not in use, the computer input will not be an active input. To "wake up" the computer, simply wiggle the mouse button on either the upper right hand corner of the keyboard or the center of the wireless mouse control. The computer will sometimes not be recognized as an input until it is activated. This may require turning the monitor off and then on again after "waking up the computer." It may also be necessary to power off both the computer tower and the Monovision monitor and then restarting both the pieces. If this doesn't work, toggle through the inputs and see if the INPUT A, which is the computer input, is recognized. Make sure the computer is turned on and the connecting VGA cable is secured tightly into the back of the monitor. If nothing seems to work, call Classroom Service at ext. 4380 and a technician will assist you in correcting the problem.

- I'm in RH 244. Why can't I turn on the lights?
This room is different than any other room on campus. The light switch in this room is located on the Crestron touch screen that is located on the teaching station at the front of the room. Touch the screen to activate it and you should see ALL ON, ALL OFF, and PRES. These are the controls for the lights. Simply touch ALL ON to turn the lights on and ALL OFF to turn the lights off, and PRES to select a preset lighting. The touch screen reacts better to a warm touch than a coold one, so it might be necessary to rub your fingers together slightly before touching the screen. If nothing seems to work, call Classroom Services at ext. 4380 and a technician will assist you in correcting the problem.
- I'm still in RH 244. Now there is loud buzzing. What is it?
Again, this room is very unique. Because it is a tiered classroom and is very large, it is equipped with both a teaching station microphone and 18 small microphones on the desks to better enhance the learning and teaching experience. These small microphones often get bumped by backpacks or books and the slightest bump can upset the microphone and cause a disturbance which will result in the buzzing. One way to fix this would be to just turn the volume in the room down, which would turn off the teaching station microphone as well as the desk microphones, but it may get rid of the noise. There is a volume control on the Crestron touch screen located in the teaching station. If this doesn't work, you can gently wiggle each individual desk microphone to discover the source of the buzzing. You can often fix this by wiggling the microphone back and forth just right--this can stop the buzzing. If it still continues, a technician may ahve to come down and manually adjust the microphone. If nothing seems to work, call Classroom Services at ext. 4380 and a technician will assist you in correcting the problem.

- Why can't I login to the network?
Any problems with the network, computer software or screen configuration should be directed to the Help Desk at ext. 4579
- Why is the image being projected from the video projector so dark?
If you notice the image is darker than in other rooms or darker than it was the last time you were teaching in this room, then most likely the bulb in the video projector is dying. This should be reported to Classroom Services at ext. 4380 as soon as you notice it so that we can change the bulb before it dies out and thus keep your classes running smoothly. The lives of these bulbs can be prolonged by each professor remembering to power down the video projector at the end of each class. It's when the projectors are left running for extended periods of time that the bulbs die out quickly.
- How do I schedule an event?
Any and all event requests should be made through our acting Events Coordinator Lisa Peters who can be reached at 445-4126 or by email at PetersLM@lemoyne.edu. This would include room use, equipment use and food requests. Lisa is then responsible for contacting the appropriate departments, including Classroom Services if technical equipment is requested.
- Help! The equipment in the classroom has a power cord with three prongs and the outlet is only equipped for two! And I'm all out of whiteboard markers and erasers! And my batteries are dead!
Three-pronged adapters, whiteboard markers and erasers can all be found at Classroom Services, as can batteries if your remote control needs new ones. We try and keep an eye on the rooms that require these items (not all rooms need three-pronged adapters), but sometimes they just seem to vanish from the rooms. But not to worry, we have a large supply of them in our storage room and only need a moment's notice to supply you with new ones.
- Why won't the video projectors in SC 209 and 211 display on the screen? The projector says that it's on.
The projector is in fact working and is most likely in stand-by mode. If the light on the bottom of the projector next to "Power Saving" is lit, then the projector was left on, probably at the end of the previous class, and it is technically "sleeping." This can be remedied by pressing the ON button on the teaching station (even if it appears to be on anyway). Wait about 20-30 seconds and confirm that something is being projected onto the screen and then select the source button you desire (computer, doc cam, VCR, DVD, etc.) If nothing seems to work, call Classroom Services at ext. 4380 and a technician will assist you in correcting the problem.
