History

Le Moyne College, located in Syracuse, N.Y., was founded in 1946, the second youngest of the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the U.S and the first to open as a co-educational institution.

The Le Moyne College Mission

Le Moyne College is a diverse learning community that strives for academic excellence in the Catholic and Jesuit tradition through its comprehensive programs rooted in the liberal arts and sciences. Its emphasis is on education of the whole person and on the search for meaning and value as integral parts of the intellectual life. Le Moyne College seeks to prepare its members for leadership and service in their personal and professional lives to promote a more just society.

Enrollment

Le Moyne College has an enrollment of approximately 2,200 undergraduate students and 700 students pursuing graduate work.

Demographics

Le Moyne College students represent 22 states and five foreign countries.

Academics

Le Moyne offers more than 700 courses leading to Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees in 24 different majors. Le Moyne also provides courses of study leading to a master’s in business administration or master’s in education. It also offers an innovative Physician Assistant program designed to prepare students to enter one of the fastest growing medical careers in the country. In addition, our Center for Continuous Education offers adult learners a variety of degree programs, certificate programs, credit and non-credit courses for professional and personal enrichment.

Faculty

Le Moyne employs approximately 230 faculty. It maintains a 13-1 ratio of students to faculty, fostering personal attention to the individual student.

Commitment to service

In keeping with the Jesuit tradition of integrating learning and service, Le Moyne encourages students to participate in local, national and world service opportunities through community service days, regular outreach programs and an Alternative Break program that sends students to areas of need throughout the U.S. and abroad.
