Welcome! Le Moyne College has been in several respects a "home" for Gabriel Marcel since he visited here, lectured and received an honorary doctorate degree in March 1965. Following Marcel's death in 1973 Le Moyne's Gabriel Marcel Institute for Existential Drama produced seven Marcel plays on stage, as videos, and as reader's theater performances. (The Rebellious Heart, The Lantern, Dot the I, The Double Expertise, Colombyre or The Torch of Peace, and The Broken World.) In the 1980's these plays were produced at The New Theater, off Broadway in New York City; by University Players from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., Emory University in Atlanta, GA; Loyola University in New Orlesans, LA; Boston College in Boston, MA; University of San Diego, CA; Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles. And performances of Marcel's piano compositions have been offered in Toronto, CA and New Orleans, LA. These performances were part of the Gabriel Marcel Society's programs at meetings in the aforementioned cities. Most recently Marcelian Studies endowed by Le Moyne College alumni contributions has supported several performances and publications. Le Moyne College is happy to host this Gabriel Marcel Society Home Page! |
