Eligibility for HEOPTo qualify for the program, applicants must be residents of New York State and be both educationally underprepared and economically disadvantaged. Candidates are considered educationally underprepared if they do not qualify for admission to Le Moyne based on regular admission academic criteria. However, there must be some indication of potential to succeed in college. The following chart outlines some objective criteria that students accepted into HEOP generally meet.
Whether an applicant is considered as economically disadvantaged is determined on the basis of income guidelines issued by the New York State Education Department. These guidelines are based on family income and the number of people in the household. To be eligible for HEOP, the applicant's family income must not exceed the following guidelines: Updated Financial Information for 2007 - 2008
*Add $5,250 for each family member in excess of 7 Add $5,250 for two workers or for one worker as sole supporter of a one-parent family. Add $2,630 for a household supported by one member working two or more jobs at the same time. These income guidelines may be raised by $4,800 if the household is supported by Applicants are required to provide, in advance of acceptance, a confidential financial statement (FAFSA) along with a copy of their 1040 income tax form and documentation of all non-taxable income to verify their financial eligibility.
