SUBJECT: THE ROLE OF THE PERSONNEL OFFICE

POLICY STATEMENT:

The Director of Personnel reports to the Vice President of Campus Services and Assistant to the President. The Director of Personnel will act as a consultant to the administration in planning personnel policies and will provide assistance to department heads/supervisors in carrying out those policies.

1. Questions concerning the following areas should be addressed to the Director of Personnel:

a. Employee Benefits tuition assistance, vacations, holidays, leaves, insurance, dental, retirement benefits, savings plans, wellness program, etc.

b. Employee Records

c. Employee Relations Christmas party, picnic, and other special events.

d. Employee Services counseling, recreation, social activities.

e. Planning manpower planning, personnel policy formulation, organizational development.

f. Staffing recruiting, selection assistance, performance appraisal, promotion, transfer, time-sharing program and separation of present employees.

g. Training and Development on the job training programs, supervisory training.

h. Union Relations discipline, collective bargaining, contract administration, grievance handling, and arbitration.

i. Wage and Salary Administration pay policies, wage surveys, job evaluation.

j. Work Environment safety programs, employee health services.
