Personnel Policy Manual for Support Staff
SUBJECT: ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCE
POLICY STATEMENT:
Punctual and regular attendance is required by all employees. However, recognizing human limitations, the following procedures have been established to facilitate orderly adjustment in work loads and to promote favorable attendance records.
IMPLEMENTATION:
1. Employees have the responsibility to report an absence and the reason and expected duration of the absence to their department heads/supervisors.
2. If the department head/supervisor cannot be reached, the Personnel Office will record information and relay a message to the department head/supervisor.
3. Employees calling in ill or absent must do so within the first hour of their work shift.
4. For a planned absence, each employee is expected to exercise good judgment by providing at least two (2) weeks notice to ease work load adjustments.
5. Department heads/supervisors are responsible for maintaining absence and tardiness records and for notifying the Personnel Office and Payroll Office of such occurrences.
6. Excused and unexcused absences are outlined in Policy #424.
