Personnel Policy Manual for Support Staff

SUBJECT: EMPLOYEE COUNSELING

POLICY STATEMENT:

It is the aim of the College to give all employees every opportunity to express opinions, discuss complaints and misunderstandings, and to seek information on matters affecting their positions, growth, or personal interest.

IMPLEMENTATION:

1. All department head/supervisors are encouraged to be sensitive and responsive to individual employee needs.
2. Response to particular situations may be initiated by the department head/supervisor.
3. It is equally the responsibility of each employee to request an interview with the department head/supervisor when the need arises.
4. Areas pertinent to this policy include, but are not limited to:

a. Educational goals
b. Professional growth
c. Particular interpersonal problems
d. Outside situations impacting on job performance

5. In order to help assure that this policy is effectively carried out, all employees should feel free to appeal without fear of retribution or prejudice to the Director of Personnel for assistance when uncorrected problems develop. 6. The College also provides an Employee Assistance Program for employees (See Policy #506).
