SUBJECT: JURY DUTY
POLICY STATEMENT:
Good citizens make good employees, and the College recognizes that as a good citizen, employees may have to serve jury duty. This time will not be considered in determining excessive absenteeism.
IMPLEMENTATION:
1. Employees must submit a copy of the jury duty summons to their department head/supervisor and the Payroll Office.
2. Employees shall receive their regular rate of pay for the first three days of jury service.
3. After the third day of jury service, employees shall receive their regular rate of pay less any juror fee paid by the appropriate authority.
4. Employees may present a copy of Le Moyne College's policy to the Commissioners of Jurors, if so requested.
5. Employees are to present the Payroll Office with the court's certification of time served on jury duty and copy of payment received.
6. The College reserves the right to seek a postponement and rescheduling for employees called to jury duty.
7. If employees are relieved from jury duty at a time when there are more than two (2) hours remaining in their workday, employees shall call their department head/supervisor for the purpose of determining whether the College desires the employees to return to work.
