SUBJECT: PROMOTION/POSITION POSTINGS
POLICY STATEMENT:
Le Moyne College provides equal opportunity for all employees to receive consideration for advancement. We will consider promoting qualified candidates from within before hiring from outside sources.
IMPLEMENTATION:
1. Open positions are established by submission of an approved Personnel Request form (see Exhibit #418A) to the Personnel Office by the department head/supervisor.
2. Open positions will be posted on the bulletin board outside the Personnel Office (see Exhibit #418B).
3. To be considered for a posted position, an employee must:
a. Notify the Personnel Office, in writing.
b. Have completed six months' satisfactory service on the current job. (Exceptions: Openings with the current department head/supervisor in the same job family.)
c. Have a good work record appraised at least as "satisfactory".
d. Meet posted minimum position requirements.
4. Qualified employees will be interviewed by the department head/supervisor of the posted position. Evaluation will be based on qualifications and past work record.
5. The Director of Personnel will confer with the department head/supervisor on selection of the best candidate. Offers for the position will be extended by the Director of Personnel. On filling the position, the Personnel Office will:
a. Inform the rejected candidates.
b. Record appropriate information in the employee's file.
6. Where two or more employees are considered equally qualified and competent, seniority will be considered in the process of selection.
7. An employee selected for transfer will have a probationary period of three (3) months.
