Benefits for Retirees

Le Moyne College continues its commitment to offer quality health care benefits that are affordable for you and Le Moyne. As you know, health care costs continue to soar nationwide. We have been aggressively working with carriers to develop quality health care options for our employees and retirees as well as innovative ways to control cost to minimize the impact on you and your family.

As one of our valued Medicare-eligible retirees, you will have the opportunity to enroll in the new Aetna Medicare Open Plan available through Le Moyne College effective January 1, 2008. The new monthly premium for Aetna Medicare Open Plan is $170.00 (formerly BC/BS Sr. High Option @ $242.96/monthly). Invoices indicating your portion of the benefit will be prepared and mailed to your home address when you have completed the enrollment process.

Meetings with Aetna representatives are scheduled for:

Wednesday, November 14 at 1:00 p.m. in Grewen Auditorium

Thursday, November 15 at 10:00 a.m. in Grewen Auditorium

We encourage you to attend and learn more about the new Medicare-eligible retiree health care plan being offered. Enrollment packets will be mailed to your home shortly. For your convenience, we will have completed much of the application form for you and they will be available at the open meetings. If you are not able to attend one of the enrollment meetings, please notify the Office of Human Resources (315-445-4155) and we will send the completed application form to you for your review and signature. We will also be available to assist you in the areas that require a personal response.

This letter is to simply inform you of the change in the insurance plan and not list all the plan provisions. The enrollment packets, scheduled to be mailed out the week of October 8 th, will have details regarding the new coverage. In addition, you may receive a call from an Aetna customer service representative to answer any questions you may have regarding your coverage.

Some of the benefits this Medicare Advantage Private Fee for Service (PFFS) plan offers are:

  • You have the freedom to receive covered services from any licensed doctor or hospital that is eligible to receive payment from Medicare, agrees to treat you, and accepts Aetna Medicare Open Plan terms and conditions of payment.
