Le Moyne College will begin its annual open enrollment process on November 7, 2007, at the annual Benefits Fair. The Benefits Fair will take place in the Curtin Special Events Room from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
During the month of November, eligible employees may switch coverage from one plan to another, enroll in a medical plan for the first time, or change membership from individual to family (or vice versa), with the transaction being effective January 1. (Note: Changing membership is not permitted at other times unless certain qualifying conditions are met – example, marriage, birth of child, a spouse’s involuntary loss of coverage due to termination of employment, etc.)
Le Moyne College continues its commitment to offer quality benefits that are affordable for you and Le Moyne. As you know, health care costs continue to soar nationwide. Le Moyne College will pay over 2.1 million for employee medical and dental coverage in 2007. We have been aggressively working with our carriers to develop quality health care options for its employees as well as innovative ways to control cost to minimize the impact on you and your family.
A few of these changes include:
New Insurance Option: HealthyBlue Implementation of Four Tier Contribution Structure Increase in Medical Flexible Spending Account limit
In an effort to offer you more flexibility in finding the right balance between monthly contributions (premiums) and out-of-pocket cost you pay when you receive care (co-pays, deductibles) Le Moyne College will be offering you a new choice. Effective January 1, 2008, we will replace our current PPO offering with HealthyBlue, a PPO that pays members up to $500 each year for living a healthier lifestyle.
Employees get cash back with HealthyRewards by logging on to the Excellus BCBS website, earning dividends, and redeeming dividends for a variety of health and wellness products or cash.
Is HealthyBlue an option you consider?
Yes, but it may not be the best plan alternative for you personally. You should be sure to review your personal healthcare needs and HealthyBlue plan provisions to assure that it is the best coverage choice for you and your family. Several tools to assist you in this comparison are available on the Office of Human Resources website.
With additional out-of-the pocket expenses possible, now is a good time to save taxes on money you spend on uncovered medical/dental and/or dependent care expenses by opening a Flexible Spending Account. Le Moyne College has increased the maximum medical spending amount for 2008 to $5,000 (from 2007 amount of $2,500).
We strongly encourage you to review the information provided on our website, as well as plan on attending the Benefits Fair. Informational Group Meetings will be scheduled during November to provide additional opportunities to gather information and learn more about the options.
If you have any additional questions, please call or stop by the Office of Human Resources.
