Alumni of Le Moyne College are welcome to continue to use the Noreen Reale Falcone Library facilities and resources. For borrowing purposes, alumni are considered special patrons and have the same rights, privileges, and responsibilities, with a few exceptions. In order to borrow materials from the Library, alumni must present two forms of ID and fill out a special patron application. If the alumnus still has the student ID, it may be used instead of a special patron card. If not, a special patron card is issued. LOAN PERIODSThe loan period for books is three weeks, with one three-week renewal, as long as the material is not needed by another patron via a hold. Media collections, developed primarily to serve the curriculum, are restricted in use to Le Moyne students and faculty in support of class assignments. The viewing of videos and DVDs are restricted to current Le Moyne students and employees. Periodicals are very heavily used, and therefore must be read in the Library. Photocopy services are available; for more information see below. ONLINE RENEWALS & DUE DATESPatrons may view the due dates of items they have out in circulation and renew their own materials online. From the library homepage select My Account. This will prompt you for your name (First and Last) and your ID/Special Patron card barcode number. Once the information is input, you will be taken to another page with several choices. Select CHECKED OUT ITEMS. You will be taken to another page. You have two options for renewal: either renew all (button on left side of page) or click in the box beside individual book, and then renew. Make sure to check the screen as error messages may indicate that you are prohibited from renewing a particular item. A book may be renewed once unless it has already been renewed, is overdue, has requested by another patron, or has been/is to be placed on course reserve. Items that are overdue may not be renewed. In additional to renewing online via My Account, books may be renewed by phone by calling 445-4325. OVERDUE MATERIALSSince patrons receive a "date due" slip upon checkout, the library is not obligated to notify patrons of an impending due date. Due dates are also available online (see Online Renewal & Due Dates above). Secondly, the assessment of fines are not tied to when or whether the patron receives an overdue notice via e-mail or regular mail. A minimum $5 fine is assessed and cannot be waived once a bill is generated. All patrons are responsible for the replacement of lost or damaged library materials and are subject to suspended library privileges. Fines are assessed to encourage the prompt return of Library materials. All patrons are responsible for the replacement of lost or damaged Library materials. The patron is assessed a charge for replacing the material, the fine, and a $10 processing fee. The account is turned over to a collection agency for the amount owed plus the agency fees. Once the account has been turned over to the collection agency, the patron is no longer eligible for borrowing privileges from Le Moyne. All fines are paid at Circulation Services. Until fines and fees are paid, library privileges are suspended. If the alumnus is a student at Syracuse University, the account is turned over to the SU Library. Once materials are 4 days overdue, they may not be renewed. RECALLS AND HOLDSIf another patron wants a book currently checked out, that book may be recalled if it has been out for three weeks. A notice will be sent reminding the patron to return the book on time and that no renewal is permitted. If the current patron has had the book for less than three weeks, a hold may be placed on it and no renewal permitted. A notice will be sent requesting the material be returned on time or on the specified date. Materials needed for course reserves are subject to recall at any time. Hold and recall forms may be filled out at Circulation Services. RIGHT TO PRIVACYThe Library strictly enforces New York State law maintaining the confidentiality of circulation records and non-disclosure of a borrower's name without consent of the borrower. Patrons have the right to protection of any personal information pursuant to current legal codes. NY Civ Prac Law, Section 4509 (Consol. 1982), amended 1988, protects the confidentiality of library records, except with a search warrant. The ALA Office of Intellectual Freedom has a web page on the new USA PATRIOT Act, as well as a link to the Act itself. SEARCHESWhen a patron cannot find a book or periodical on the open shelves and it is not checked out, he/she may fill out a search request form at the Circulation Services Desk. The book or periodical will be searched in the Library and the patron will be notified of the search results. COPY SERVICESPhotocopy machines are located on the first floor. Change is not given at the desks. To decrease copy costs, patrons may purchase a copy card from the vending machine located in the photocopy room. A self service microform copier is available for use with the same type of copy card at the same cost per copy. Photocopying all materials must comply with the Copyright Revision Act of 1976, 17 U.S.C. Sec. 101 et seq. INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICEAlumni may use the Interlibrary Services, provided that they are not students elsewhere. Online forms are available on the library web page. EXIT SECURITYAll patrons must enter and exit through the electronic surveillance system at the Library's main doors. When a patron sets off the alarm, the Library reserves the right to inspect the patron's belongings for library materials that have not been properly checked out. Individual cases of library theft or abuse of library property are referred to the Student Development Office or the local police as appropriate.
