Browser Proxy Instructions - Internet Explorer

Because of problems configuring Internet Explorer, we recommend you consider downloading a copy of Netscape and using it as your browser to access library resources.

To have off-campus access, adjust the proxy server settings in your web browser using the proxy server instructions below.

After applying these changes, you will be prompted for your Username (Firstname LastName) and your Password (the 14-digit barcode number from the lower left corner of your Le Moyne College ID card) when accessing many of the library resources. Do not use your Novell or Email username and password.

If you leave your browser configured to access the proxy address, you will be asked for your Username and Barcode number EVERY time you start the web browser.

IF YOU DO NOT GET TO THE SCREEN WHERE YOU ARE PROMPTED FOR YOUR NAME (FIRSTNAME LASTNAME) AND BARCODE NUMBER WITH A FORM THAT IS LIKE THAT BELOW, THEN PROXY IS NOT WORKING FOR SOME REASON.

A password is required to use the library proxy server to access this site.

	For example, type "Jane Smith" and then press the RETURN key.

Therefore, we recommend using the proxy server only when needed, and then restoring your original settings for normal web browsing. If you encounter any problems with these instructions, e-mail the Electronic Resources Librarian.

It is very important that you follow the instructions exactly or the proxy will not work as expected. See the sample set up screen below to be sure that the proper data is input into the proper field.
