Dual Degree Partnership in Nursing

(1+2+1 Partnership)
Le Moyne College and St. Joseph’s College of Nursing

The Dual Degree Partnership in Nursing (DDPN) represents a unique articulation agreement between Le Moyne College’s Nursing Program and St. Joseph's College of Nursing @ St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. This DDPN requires two years of full-time study at Le Moyne College (years 1 and 4) and two years of full-time study at St. Joseph's College of Nursing (years 2 and 3) to satisfy both the associate degree and bachelor degree requirements.

The program objectives of this articulation model are to:

  • Encourage a younger cohort of students to major in nursing.
  • Provide an innovative approach that contributes to the recruitment and retention of applicants pursuing nursing education.
  • Promote the smooth transition of qualified applicants between Le Moyne College and St. Joseph's College of Nursing.
  • Provide students with a dynamic four-year living and learning campus environment at Le Moyne that enhances their personal and educational development.
  • Offer educational mobility leading to the Bachelor of Science.
  • A $25,000 Promise of Nursing for New York Nursing School Grant, administered by the Foundation of the National Student Nurses' Association, was received to support the development of the new DDPN initiative. Funding for the grant program was contributed by several hospitals and health care agencies in the New York area, by Johnson & Johnson, and by national companies with an interest in supporting nursing education. The funds were raised at a gala fundraising event sponsored by Johnson & Johnson.
