Academic Information for First Year Students
Welcome to Le Moyne College! We understand that the transition from high school to college may seem overwhelming at first. To help ease the transition and better prepare you for this new adventure, we have put together this webpage for you. We have provided you with detailed information about what will take place during summer orientation and throughout your first year at Le Moyne. Although your advisor will assist you throughout this process, it is important to understand Le Moyne’s academic curriculum and plan a course of study that will satisfy the college guidelines.
As your first “assignment”, you will create a tentative fall schedule to bring with you to summer orientation by filling out the Registration Worksheet. (If you do not have Adobe Acrobat, you can download the free viewer from Adobe.) Complete the worksheet using the following instructions:
- Indicate any AP or College credit courses that you have completed or are currently taking. Send all official scores to the Registrar’s Office so that credit can be awarded.
- Review the Academic Program/Major Information. Select your major and, on the worksheet, indicate the typical four-year program of study. (Most students take the courses recommended for their program).
- Read more about special topics, such as the core curriculum, honors program, or learning communities, to identify areas that may affect your fall schedule. Make comments and identify other areas that may also impact your fall schedule (such as work or athletics).
- View the Course Availability webpage to determine which courses will be offered during the fall semester. Indicate on the worksheet fall course preferences and alternatives. (Some classes will already be full since upperclassmen registered in April.)
Bring this completed worksheet to summer orientation. You will discuss it with your advisor. However, it will not be your final schedule. Do not worry if you have questions. Just try your best. During orientation, you will have a lengthy conversation with an advisor during which you will discuss the worksheet and plan your actual fall schedule.
For your convenience, we have also included many frequently asked questions to assist with the registration process. If you have any additional questions, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 315-445-4456 or the Office of the Associate Dean at 315-445-4597. Once you are on campus, feel free to visit either office for more information. Your success is of the utmost importance to us, and we are very willing to assist you throughout your college career.
