What are the prerequisites for the program?
Prerequisites vary slightly, depending on whether the applicant is seeking a baccalaureate degree in addition to the master's degree.

When must I complete the prerequisites?
Preference for admission is given to students who have fewer than four prerequisites remaining at the time of application, and those who will complete the prerequisites by the beginning of the summer prior to admission. If a student has one or two prerequisites to complete during the summer prior to the fall admission, they must be completed with a final grade submitted to the College prior to matriculation.

Is the GRE required?
No.

Is prior healthcare experience required?
Yes. An applicant must have at least 750 hours of healthcare experience. Both number of hours and quality of that experience are weighed when considering an application. The more “hands-on” activities are considered higher quality (such as patient care assistant, nursing assistant, EMT, etc.) than less “hands-on” activities (pharmacy tech, receptionist, medical records). Experience may be paid or volunteer. Learn more about qualifying experience

Can I apply to the program if I do not have a bachelor’s degree?
An exceptional student may apply to the program without a bachelor’s degree if s/he wishes to complete a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a concentration in physician assistant studies. The student should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA and must complete all program prerequisites prior to matriculation. Several courses in the program will count toward required and elective courses for the baccalaureate degree. Please consult with an admissions counselor for specific guidance.
