Section 504/Title IX Coordinator
Barbara Karper, assistant vice president for student development and multicultural affairs, serves as Le Moyne College's Section 504 Coordinator and Title IX Coordinator. In this role, Barbara is responsible for Le Moyne compliance in the following areas, which are under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights:
Section 504 - which prohibits discrimination based on disability, and
Title IX - which prohibits discrimination based on sex.
Le Moyne is subject to provisions of Section 504 and Title IX because it receives Federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Education.
Her role deals with student-only compliance in these two areas. In addition to Section 504 and Title IX, Barbara also oversees student-related facilities concerns and compliance for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which is under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Justice.
