Procedures for book donations are as follows:
The person to contact to donate books can be reached either by E-mail at the link Assistant to the Director of the Library or by telephone at 315-445-4320.
The Director of the Library or the collection development librarian responsible for the primary subject matter of the collection will then determine whether or not to accept the potential donation.
Neither Le Moyne College nor the Noreen Reale Falcone Library provides appraisal services for book collection donations. If an appraisal is desired, the donor must seek the services of a professional appraiser before contacting the Library. A copy of the professional appraisal must accompany the donation if the donation is accepted by the Library, and if the donor wants to be formally recognized by Le Moyne College for the donation.
If there is no significant value for the book collection donation and, therefore, no appraisal is conducted, but the donor would still like to be recognized by Le Moyne College for the donation, a physical count of hardcovers and paperbacks will take place and only that information will be provided for formal recognition purposes.
If the collection is accepted and the donor does not care to be recognized for the donation, then no further action is necessary on the part of the donor or Le Moyne College.
Except for large, valuable collections, Le Moyne College does not provide transportation services. The donor is responsible for delivery of the donation to the Library if the collection is accepted.
If a collection is accepted, then the final decision will be made by the collection development librarian to either add the items to the Library collection, sell them at the Library Book Sale, or send them to the missions.
