Procedure

Fill out the online ILL request form (see center of this page). Requested items are picked up at References Services Desk and (if necessary) returned to Reference Services Desk.

Required Data

A complete bibliographic citation of the needed item is required. Do not abbreviate. For the benefit of the lending library, all citations must be complete with article title, journal name, volume, date and pages for journal articles and author, title, publisher and date for books. For assistance locating missing information, contact Reference Services.

Delivery Time

It is difficult to determine the exact time necessary to receive each requested item. It may take 7 to 21 days or longer. During busy times of the school year, requests take longer to fill. In your preparation of research assignments, it is best to allow 10 to 15 days.

Renewals

If the materials are needed beyond the initial due date, submit an online renewal form (see center of this page). Patrons may keep the materials until notified by ILL staff of either the new due date or that the renewal was denied.

Lost or Damaged Items

Materials which have been lost or damaged must be paid for by the patron. Charges will cover the replacement cost of the materials and may also include service charges.

Interlibrary Loan

Le Moyne students, faculty, and alumni can obtain materials from other libraries by taking advantage of the Interlibrary Loan Service at Reference Services.  The purpose of this service is to obtain materials not owned by the Falcone Library, nor by any Connect NY library, and that are needed for research by Le Moyne students, faculty, staff and most alumni. Alumni who are students elsewhere must use the interlibrary services at that institution.

Referrals to local libraries

Le Moyne students and faculty may visit and/or obtain borrowing privileges from other libraries. The best procedure to follow when you wish to visit another library is to consult with a reference librarian. The librarian can tell you whether that library's collection has what you are looking for, as well as explain your privileges there.

Le Moyne patrons are responsible for any damaged or lost material borrowed from other libraries. Failure of Le Moyne patrons to cooperate with local libraries regarding their financial obligations may affect their borrowing privileges at Le Moyne.
