If a password is requested, we cannot directly access the full text version and the article should  
 be requested through InterLibrary Loan.

TRIP Database
TRIP is an acronym for Turning Research into Practice. This website acts as a search engine representing aspects of clinical medicine for 25 specialty areas.Core medical journals and clinically relevant websites are searched as well as 300 specialty journals. Retrieval is quick and results are up-to-date, enabling answers to clinical questions. A unique feature is the "i" icon which enables the user to quickly review a study's results and conclusions.

Journals/Newsletters

Biolaw is a monthly newsletter reporting on legal and ethical  issues in medicine, health care and bioengineering. Our collection is in print and is located in the reference collection at QH 332.B36. Coverage includes 1986 to present. Each annual binder includes updates to prior articles/issues as well as special sections reporting on current ethical topics and legal decisions/pronouncements.

JAAPA is the current official journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and can be accessed here. Previously, the official journal was "Physician Assistant" which the Library holds in print from 1983 and electronically from April 1, 2001 to September 30, 2003 when it ceased publication.


Search Engine


iMedisearch
A customized Google Search engine built to search medical related resources selected by a clinical pharmacist. Although you may not locate full text articles or all the subscription results the Library offers this is a more specific  choice than Google or Google scholar.

Bates' visual guide to physical examination seriesThe library provides online access for all eighteen parts of this series. There is also a videocassette version on reserve at the media desk for viewing in the library. To view remotely, click the link above, select the desired part in the series and click the "Network version" listing.

Medical Gross Anatomy Dissection Videos
Produced by the University of Michigan's Medical School, these presentations illustrate dissections of the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory, gastrointestinal,reproductive, endocrine and nervous system.  The videos are viewable with Quicktime.

-Clinical practice guidelines can be found at the National Guideline Clearinghouse portion of this site.

AIDSinfo
Sponsored by the US Department of Health and Human Services, this site provides a comprehensive source for information on all aspects opf HIV/AIDS. A searchbox is available as well as tabs for Guidelines, Drugs, Clinical Trials, Vaccines, Health Topics and Tools.

Center for Biosecurity

A searchable database from 1998 to present of articles, commentary, Congressional testimony and recent events in the areas of Bioterrorism and Biosecurity.

Center for Disease Control and Prevention
Federal government resource focusing on public health issues. Reliable information and reviewed links to other websites.

Guide to Clinical Preventive Services

Report of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force provides recommendations on preventive interventions: screening tests, counseling, immunizations, and chemoprophylatic regimens for more than 80 conditions.

HealthFinder
US Department of Health and Human Services website for consumers with links to topic information, online publications, support groups, and other agencies. Available in English and Spanish.

International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS)
Connect and select the IBIDS Consumer Database.
This database does not contain full text documents but contains references to books and journal articles on the topic.

National Center for Health Statistics
United States health statistics. Data on vital events as well as information on health status, lifestyle and exposure to unhealthy influences, the onset and diagnosis of illness and disability, and the use of health care

National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine 
NCCAM, the Federal Government's lead agency for scientific research on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional medicine. This site provides timely and accurate information about CAM research

Onondaga County Health Assessment Indicators
Various assessment indicators are available online from 2001 to present at this site. For indicators prior to this time, the infomation is available in the Reference section of the Library in printed form.

PLOS Medicine: Public Library of Science
--A non-profit, open access publisher of peer-reviewed articles. The articles are also indexed by Gale and PubMed and can be located in their full text version here.

PDQ: NCI's Comprehensive Cancer Database
A factual database providing information about cancer treatment, prognosis, care, screening and prevention.

Scirus
A comprehensive research tool with full text access to scientific and research works in progress as well as scientists' homepage and website infomation. 

USPSTF
Systematic reviews of the evidence of effectiveness for clinical preventive services for ten clinical categories including screening, counseling and preventive medication.


World Health Organization

Extensive information on diseases and health issues affecting the world's population.  Excellent overviews of various international health topics are available in the website's Fact Sheets.
