Dr. Hilary McManus
Research Interests:
My research focuses on the diversity of photosynthetic eukaryotes and how this diversity has been achieved. I utilize molecular phylogenetics and morphologicl characterization to recognize species boundaries in freshwater green algae and explore questions regarding morphological evolution. I am also interested in life cycle evolution in the photosynthetic eukaryotes and the multiple independent origins of alteration of generations, and how alteration of generations along with other traits allowed land plants to diversify in a terrestrial habitat.

Dr. David Smith
Research Interests:
Ecosystem Ecology and Environmental Education. Generally interested in factors that influence the distribution and abundance of organisms, most especially aquatic insects. Currently working on the biogeographical distribution of dragonflies (Odonata) in the Bahamian Archipelago as well as assisting with the preparation of an electronic inventory of Bahamian insect diversity.

Prof. Georgene Carson
Research Interests:
The possibly significant impact of the European Dreissena polymorpha on the North American ecosystems. The filtration rates and the reproductive biology of this organism are studied in the laboratory, but also field studies are initiated on population growth and environmental impact.

I am interested in the regneration and development of the vertebrate retina. My research focuses on the cellular and molecular events involved in regeneration of the fish retina and how it relates to mechanisms of development and stem cell biology.

Dr. Lawrence Tanner
Research Interests:
I study changes in the environment, both modern and ancient, and their effects on living things. These changes include such processes as climate, tectonics and volcanism. Much of my research has focused on the world of the early Mesozoic and its inhabitants (for example, dinosaurs). But my students and I also study the effects of modern climate change in settings as diverse as Costa Rica and Iceland.

Dr. Devon Keeney
Research Interests:
My research utilizes molecular markers to identify the genetic structure of animal populations and determine the ecological and evolutionary causes of the observed genetic patterns. My interests range from the global genetic structure of marine fishes to the differentiation of parasites within individual hosts. By investigating diverse organisms over varying geographic scales, I hope to gain a better understanding of the factors influencing the evolution of animal populations.
