SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … As the fall semester draws to a close at Le Moyne College, students are preparing to present a series of winter concerts, showcasing their accomplishments during the first term of the 2011-2012 academic year.

On Sunday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m., the college’s Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Joe Colombo, will present an evening of jazz favorites at Jazz Central, 441 E. Washington Street in downtown Syracuse. The college ensemble will be joined by the Young Lions of Central New York, performing a Christmas jazz suite, “Bye Bye, Blackbird,” “My Funny Valentine,” and much more!

Next on the docket is a joint concert featuring the Le Moyne College Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Singers on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts. The orchestra, under the baton of Travis Newton, will present the music of Gustav Holst, a full orchestral medley of classic carols, and a holiday audience sing-along! The Chamber Singers, a newly formed a cappella ensemble under the direction of Jocelyn Rauch, will perform holiday carols both new and old, including “I Saw Three Ships,” “Carol of the Bells,” and many more.

Finally, the Le Moyne College Jazzuits and Singers will present two evenings of Broadway classics and the music of George Gershwin. On Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9 and 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts, these two vocal ensembles will present standards including “I’ve Never Been in Love Before” and “Someone to Watch Over Me” alongside selections from contemporary Broadway musicals, including “Spring Awakening” and “Hairspray.”
